Whilst such analyses can be conducted using a low powered microscope to only 10 to 50x magnification, FCIR can use high powered optical microscopes and/or a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) to obtain images with up to 10,000x magnification. This also allows the fracture surface to be analysed to accurately obtain the method of failure.
These techniques can be applied to virtually all components within a vehicle to see if there was a pre-existing defect, or that a failure occurred as a result of a collision.
If you have a matter where you are unsure if you require such an analysis, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss it with you.
